Method 1: Gas flushing
A commonly used cleaning method, relatively simple, requires the help of air pumps, purge guns and fume hoods, often used for drying and not sticky samples after grinding cleaning, such as soil, coal, dry cement, etc. After the grinding of such samples, the grinding tank and grinding medium can be placed in a fume hood, cleaned with a purge gun, and ready to be used again after completion.
Method 2: Wipe with a paper towel or dry cloth
The use of paper towels or dry cloths to wipe is also a commonly used cleaning method, it should be noted that paper towels and dry cloths need to be clean and pollution-free, this method is also suitable for drying and not easy to stick samples after grinding cleaning. After grinding, the grinding can can be wiped directly with a paper towel or dry cloth, and the grinding ball is only suitable for slightly larger diameters and smaller quantities.
Method 3: Wash with water
Water is a common liquid for our daily cleaning, as well as for cleaning tanks and balls. Before cleaning, we can soak the grinding jar and grinding ball, and then rinse the tank and ball with running tap water. For substances that are difficult to clean with water washing such as oil and solvents in the tank, the grinding ball and detergent (such as washing powder, small pieces of soap, dish soap, etc.) can be put into the grinding tank together with water, covered with a lid and put on the ball mill to idle for a few minutes, and then rinsed with pure water, and then dried or dried.
Method 4: Add cleaning solvent
Some sample residues, only water and detergents are difficult to clean, then we can choose the appropriate cleaning solvent according to the chemical properties of the residual sample, such as acetone, butanone, ethanol (alcohol), oxalic acid, hydrochloric acid, etc., and then soak for cleaning.
It should be noted that when we choose the cleaning solvent, we should avoid the chemical reaction of the added solvent with the grinding tank and grinding ball, in addition, for the sample of wet ball milling, we can directly use the same solvent as when grinding, and the effect is also good.
Method 5: Add strong acids such as sulfuric acid or nitric acid
Some adhesions that are difficult to remove can be soaked with concentrated acid for a period of time according to the situation, and then the dilute acid is put into the ball mill for idling cleaning, and then washed with tap water.
Method 6: ultrasonic or plasma cleaner
For some grease or viscous samples, choosing to use ultrasonic or plasma cleaners often has a good cleaning effect, and the mechanical vibration force generated is enough to break the adhesion to achieve the cleaning effect, and it can be dried or dried after cleaning.
Method 7: The ball mill runs without load
Ball mill no-load operation has been applied to some of the above methods, ball mill itself has a certain energy during operation, we can use this energy to clean the grinding tank and grinding medium, but it should be noted that the speed should not be set too high to reduce the loss of grinding balls and ball mill energy consumption.
